Andre,

Fantastic article. Very clear. However, I'1000 having a problem that is not addressed in your stride-by-stride guide.

I successfully go to the step right before the OOBE. My PC boots again only goes back to the DVD which is nevertheless inserted. And so, I get the prompt to Press whatsoever key to reboot from CD or DVD. Doing then gets me back to the setup on the DVD for some other install. Not hitting whatever key causes my PC to just stop.

Is the media supposed to exist removed prior to this concluding reboot?

Dennis

[UPDATE] Success. By a combination of doing a PC Cleanup and then removing the DVD just after the final setup step, I'm able to boot into the Tech Preview and finish setting upward accounts, etc. I'm upwards and running now.

Strange, what is your default boot device in the BIOS, hard disk or DVD?

Effort making your hd be the default boot device in the BIOS and meet if allows you to boot into Windows x without going into setup again.

I'm not sure what y'all hateful by "default boot device". My boot order is DVD then difficult drive. If I make the hard drive first then I cannot kick from the DVD to get the install started.

The hard drive had an sometime Windows eight.0 system on it. When I tried to install a agglomeration of updates, I could no longer boot from the hard drive. That's when I decided to just flake 8.0 and endeavor Win 10.

But I'one thousand non sure that'due south my trouble. If I pull the DVD and effort to boot off the difficult drive I get this mistake, in plain text on a black background:

A deejay read error occurred

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

When I do that, I go the same thing over again.

If you are in the OOBE for Windows 10, why would you lot need to be booting from the Windows ten install media again except for installing Windows 10 again?

What you said:

I successfully go to the step right before the OOBE.

This is correct before the OOBE:

When this phase of setup is complete, Windows will automatically restart and reboot into setup again.

Which means, all necessary files would have already been copied from the disc to facilitate the installation.

Do you have more than one difficult disk installed in your computer?

Do you have external storage devices attached to the organization?

If you do, disconnect them earlier running setup.

Andre, I'm non in the OOBE. Every bit I said, and you quoted, I'yard in the step before where I encounter the "Windows needs to restart .." bulletin. Merely because my DVD player is starting time in line in my BIOS, instead of booting to my hard bulldoze which at present has the Tech Preview on information technology, the PC boots back to the DVD with the install ISO on it.

But, as I said in the update to my beginning postal service above, I was able to pull the DVD in fourth dimension so my PC booted to the hard drive. I at present have the Tech Preview running.

Cheers for the article and your help.

Well, I take a question:

I did the gratis upgrade of my Windows 7 and now want to reinstall Windows 10 using a clean install. I'grand a bit broken-hearted from nature so I showtime looked upward whether my installation of Win10 is activated and which product key is used.

And that's the strange part:

When I apply the MGADiag.exe tool to bank check genuinity of the installation information technology shows me a key that ends exactly similar the Windows 10Insider Preview Key. More curious:

Using a 'key extractor vb-script':

Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") MsgBox ConvertToKey(WshShell.RegRead("HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\DigitalProductId")) Office ConvertToKey(Key) Const KeyOffset = 52 i = 28 Chars = "BCDFGHJKMPQRTVWXY2346789" Do Cur = 0 10 = 14 Practise Cur = Cur * 256 Cur = Key(x + KeyOffset) + Cur Key(x + KeyOffset) = (Cur \ 24) And 255 Cur = Cur Mod 24 x = x -1 Loop While ten >= 0 i = i -1 KeyOutput = Mid(Chars, Cur + i, 1) & KeyOutput If (((29 - i) Modernistic 6) = 0) And (i <> -1) Then i = i -i KeyOutput = "-" & KeyOutput Cease If Loop While i >= 0 ConvertToKey = KeyOutput End Part

I got even another key which is neither my Win7 key nor the Insider Preview central.

[Update]I at present upgraded a 2nd Windows7 license too and it has the aforementioned primal when extracted, seems to be generic[/Update]

What fundamental should I put in when I'1000 prompted to actuate Windows 10 after the clean install?

I DID Not utilise a Microsoft Account - and I won't be persued to do then.

Instead of publishing a new article, how about answering the questions?

Afaik:

When I upgrade to Win10 my Hardware-Setup is recorded in a MS DB and continued with a free license for Win10.

What, when my hardware changes? Yes there's much information about that but only from third-party. Practise I demand to do the upgrade once more? What if my hardware changes AFTER the ane year after the release? Do I however get the free upgrade? If not, tin can I at least use my 'old' Windows which I before used to upgrade to Win10 or is the license not valid anymore (you say one can only 'get back' 30days lonng).

How's all that with Federal republic of germany: Here a hardware-modify afaik cannot 'invalidate' the license. So: Do *we* become Win10 for gratuitous on all devices?

All questions not have been answered past MS Officials.

This, well, is quite sh*t.
